You want to know what I think is the best part about traveling with a real camera? Well, eventually, you’ll have to go through the photos, and once at it, you’ll probably remember how much freaking fun you had. At least that is what happens every time I have to write one of these blog posts, and in case it wasn’t obvious, I love it.

After a successful first day and a night out and about in Boston we woke up around 9am (not wanting to, really) and started to get ready to head to Cambridge. Although we had left the car parked for our adventures in town the day before, we decided it would be worth it to go to Cambridge on the car, yet you can totally do it via public transportation.Assuming you leave the house early, which we didn’t, of course.

In just about 25 min we were parking the car and starting to walk Cambridge, a college town where the prestigious Harvard School is located. We only walked around for a little while before we bumped into a great brunch spot called Cafe Luna. The wait time was about an hour, so we decided to get a snack and walk around a little bit more before going back to the place.

Once at our table we enjoyed a delicious (and I mean really delicious) brunch before heading to the Harvard Campus, but of course, not without stopping at 3 vintage/thrift stores along the way. What can I say, it’s a thing.

We reached the John F. Kennedy park in about 15 min and decided to chill for awhile and enjoy gorgeous view and weather. We continued to walk closer to the campus where we were so marveled at the downright cute college town that Cambridge is.

Quickly after checking out local a bookstores we made our way back to the car to head back to the Airbnb where we would get ready to walk some more and go have dinner. We decided to treat ourselves to local seafood and went to eat at this insanely gorgeous seafood place called Legal Harborside, where we tried two different types of oysters and I stuffed my face with a delicious seafood stew.

After that, we headed to the Lawn on D where there are some now famous cool swings that light up at night.

We ended the night on a somewhat sour note being mistreated at Jerry Remy’s, where the bartenders refused to serve one of us because she didn’t have an ‘american’ ID, so if you want my honest opinion, don’t go to this place. The service was downright awful and there is really nothing special about it.

All that said, Boston was without a doubt the best place to spend this past LDW. We had so much fun chatting, getting to know each other more and trying so much good food. Although we each had our moments - after all, traveling in group can often times be challenging - it was a long weekend I am sure we will all remember with a smile, mostly because we forgot about our routines, kept an open mind and had a great mindset to just enjoy the ride.

So the next time you have some time off and a bit of cash, why not go for a fun trip with some friends? Traveling does not have to be hard or expensive, especially if at the end of the day you can split almost everything between a couple of people.

Like I often like to say, shop less and travel more. Especially with friends.

Eventualmente voy a tener que sentarme a ver todas las fotos y es ahí cuando me doy cuenta de todos los hermosos recuerdos que tengo de ese viaje. Al menos eso me pasa cada vez que tengo que escribir uno de estos posts, que si no se han dado cuenta ya, me fascinan compartir.

Luego del éxito que fue nuestro primer día y noche en la ciudad, nos levantamos a eso de las 9am del Domingo (sin querer mucho salir de la cama como se podrán imaginar) para comenzar a cambiarnos para ir a visitar el área de Cambridge. Aunque habíamos dejado el carro parqueado durante todo el primer día, decidimos que valía la pena irnos en el aunque puedes totalmente usar el transporte público.

En solo 25 minutos nos estamos ya parqueando para comenzar a caminar un poco de Cambridge, un área universitaria mayormente conocida por la prestigiosa universidad de Harvard. Solo tuvimos que caminar un ratito para toparnos con un lugar que se veía genial llamado Cafe Luna. La espera era de más o menos una hora así que decidimos ir a comprar un aperitivo y a explorar por un ratito más antes de regresar al restaurante.

Una vez sentadas en el área interior del modesto restaurante disfrutamos de un increíble brunch para luego comenzar a caminar hacia el campus de Harvard, pero claro no sin antes pararnos en tres tiendas de ropa de segunda mano en el camino. Que puedo decir, es un must en cada viaje.

Llegamos al parque de John F. Kennedy en más o menos 15 minutos y decidimos sentarnos en el pasto por un rato para digerir la comida y disfrutar del hermoso paisaje. Luego de recargar las pilas nos decidimos a caminar hacia el campus donde pudimos apreciar la imponente arquitectura y lo linda que el área de Cambridge de verdad es.  

Si te encuentras en Boston no dejes de visitar este lugar y este histórico campus universitario.

Luego de pararnos en una tienda de libros nos resolvimos a volver hacia el carro para hacer una pequeña parada en nuestro Airbnb antes de salir a cenar. Para nuestra última noche decidimos darnos el gusto de comer en un buen lugar de mariscos llamado Legal Harborside donde comenzamos con dos tipos de ostiones increíbles y donde yo pedí un delicioso estofado de mariscos.

Luego de alli nos fuimos al Lawn on D, un parque en el cual se encontraban unos ya famosos columpios que se iluminan en la noche.

La lástima fué que terminamos la noche con un mal sabor en la boca gracias al horrendo servicio que nos dieron en el bar llamado Jerry Remy’s, donde las meseras y el manager se negaron a servirle a una amiga con un ID vigente  internacional. Así que para serte honesta ni te molestes en ir a este lugar ya que el servicio es horrible y no hay absolutamente nada especial acerca del mismo.

Aún así, ir a Boston fue sin lugar a dudas el mejor plan que pudimos hacer para este fin de semana largo. Nos divertimos tanto conversando, conociéndonos un poco más y disfrutando tanta buena comida juntas. Aunque tuvimos nuestros momentos en los cuales nuestras diferencias fueron difíciles de tratar - como suele pasar siempre que se viaja en grupo - fueron unas vacaciones que estoy segura todas vamos a recordar con una sonrisa en la cara ya que nos decidimos a salir de nuestras zonas de confort, conocer un lugar nuevo y simplemente disfrutar el camino tanto como el destino.

Así que si tu también te encuentras con un poco de dinero, ¿por qué no cambiar la rutina e irte de viaje con tus amig@s? Viajar no siempre tiene que ser costoso y mucho menos si logras formar un grupo que puede fácilmente dividirse los gastos.
