¿Cual Es Tu Historia?
A couple of months ago when we (yes, we are a team now!) opened the floor to contributors and we received the first submission, I had some sort of epiphany. Reading this writer's content, from a woman's perspective and most importantly an undoubtedly Dominican one, made me realize I had never read anything like it anywhere else - and not to brag, but I spend a lot of time online and although there is a ton of Dominican-focused content out there, I just hadn't experienced reading someone's story I could so deeply relate to.
This powerful realization further encouraged me to give everything I’ve got so that hola, rita. can grow and expand its content offerings, not only for myself, but for us Dominican women. I’ve become even more passionate, perhaps obsessed, to have our stories, experiences and knowledge become more mainstream. I want the world to know about our unique struggles, our history and how it still affects us, our bravery and our hunger for change, independence and growth outside the shadow of Machismo that to this day dominates our a great deal of our culture and has allowed for so much of us go unheard and unseen.
And at the end of the day, no one can tell our stories better than we can, and if there was ever a better time to do so it is definitely now.
So I need to ask, what's your story? Is there something you've been dying to tell the world? What about that story you know can help other women? I am even open to publish anonymous stories, if that is the only way you will get it out there - so as long it is coming from an honest and well thought out place.
It's time the world knows more about us. Our successes and our both unique and universal struggles from a different perspective and what we are doing every day to challenge stereotypes and pave the way for the next generation of mujeres y compatriotas.

Hace algunos meses ya, cuando recibimos (si, ¡tengo que hablar en plural ya que somos un equipo de este lado!) la primera propuesta para publicar en la página tuve lo que se pudiese llamar como epifanía. Al leer el texto de esta contribuidora, desde una perspectiva femenina y más que nada Dominicana, me hizo darme cuenta que nunca había leído algo parecido en ningún otro lugar y aunque la verdad es que pasó gran parte de mi tiempo libre leyendo artículos online y sé que hay mucho contenido Dominicano disponible, simplemente no había experimentado leer un texto con el que me podía identificar de aquella manera tan especial.
Esta importante realización me animó a trabajar aún más duro para que hola, rita. pueda crecer y expandir el tipo de contenido no sólo por mí sino también por nosotras, las mujeres Dominicanas. Ahora me apasiona todavía más, creo que hasta de una manera obsesiva, que nuestras historias, experiencias y conocimientos sean más conocidos. Quiero que el mundo se entere de nuestras luchas, nuestra historia y cómo todavía afecta nuestras vidas, nuestro heroísmo y el deseo inmenso que tenemos de liberarnos de la sombra del machismo que hasta este día domina nuestra cultura y que ha logrado que tanto de nosotras no salga a luz.
Al final de cuentas nadie puede contar mejor nuestras historias que nosotras mismas, y creo que estamos en tremendo momento para hacerlo.
Así que te tengo que preguntar, ¿cuál es tu historia? ¿Hay algo que hace mucho te quieres sacar del pecho? ¿Que tal esa historia que sabes puede ayudar a muchas mujeres? Estoy hasta dispuesta a publicar textos anónimos si esta es la única manera en la que puedes hacerlo - siempre y tanto venga de un lugar honesto y bien pensado.
Es tiempo de que el mundo sepa más acerca de nosotras. Nuestras victorias y nuestras luchas únicas y universales, y todo lo que estamos haciendo para romper estereotipos y abrirle el camino a la próxima generación de mujeres y compatriotas.
