As we prepare to enter the madness that are the holidays (even if you don’t celebrate them) we are back again with the kind of chisme we love: Enriching content you cannot miss this month. We got to see Stars in New York this month, and it was amazing to experience Amy Millan’s voice live. In this audio interview for The Takeaway, Amy talks about the lack of women in music production, and what she’s doing about it. For her, it’s a question of equity in the industry she loves and for us, it is much needed music to our ears.

Your Failures Will Not Define You
One of the wonderful things about Twitter is that it allows us to quite easily go back in time. This is a new thing, but seeing a video featuring an inspirational woman like Oprah back in 1986, when her show was just launching, can be quite moving.
In a hyper competitive world when we seem to be defined by our failures rather than by our experiences and learnings, it is important to remember our work and our setbacks will not determine who we are. What will always define us is how we treat others and ourselves, as continue to push our limits and strive to be the best, just like Oprah went on to become.
¿Puedes creer que el año casi se está terminando?
Mientras nos preparamos para entrar en la locura que son las fiestas (incluso si no las celebramos) volvemos con el tipo de chisme que amamos: contenido enriquecedor que no puede perderse este mes. Desde un artículo que trata sobre la violencia contra la mujer (en español) hasta la falta de mujeres en la producción musical (en inglés) estas son las historias, artículos y más que creemos que no debes perderte este mes.
“Hay un país en el mundo”
Por ahí viene una nueva producción de José Pintor (Pinky), la cual pretende ser una pieza cultural que se enfocará en “hacer un levantamiento a nivel nacional y en todos los ámbitos.” En tiempos donde la moral parece estar por el suelo y la tanta gente se siente desalentada, nos emociona pensar que existirá un proyecto como éste que esperamos no solo nos levante nos ánimos, sino que también nos recuerde a los más viejos y eduque a los más jóvenes sobre todo lo que nuestro país tiene para ofrecer.

¿Qué es un feminicidio en la República Dominicana?
Este mes se celebró el Día de la No Violencia Contra la mujer y la verdad es que no podemos pasar la oportunidad de compartir este poderoso artículo escrito por Raquel Rosario Sánchez, una escritora que continuamente nos desafía a cuestionar lo que sabemos y pensamos, y la cual no tiene pelos en la lengua para decir las cosas como son.
En este artículo, Raquel nos introduce a la enorme falta que existe al momento de contar los feminicidios que ocurren en la República Dominicana. Raquel escribe, “para fines estadísticos, nuestro país solo contempla como feminicidio cuando el asesinato de la mujer es cometido por su actual o antigua pareja.”
Esto es bochornoso e injusto para todas nosotras, pero es algo de lo que debemos estar atentas, al tanto y continuamente desafiar. ¿Cómo podemos resolver un problema si nisiquiera lo identificamos correctamente?
