The smell of fresh cilantro. The sound of tostones frying. The drizzle of lemon juice that makes pretty much anything taste better.
Our connection to food is undeniable, and naturally, so much of our culture revolves around it. There are so many stories, memories and even traumas attached to ingredients, flavors and smells of our food.
This month, the Hola, Rita team is excited to cover a topic that gets us genuinely excited: Food! We’ll be interviewing Dominican chefs, foodies and entrepreneurs, sharing our favorite restaurants and recipes, and even writing one or two love letters to ingredients and utensils that are staples of our culture and our identity. But food is also complex and political, whether we realize it or not, so we aim to also touch on topic like food security, sustainability and the lack of representation and inclusion in the food space.
So join us for a month of content that promises to be salty, sometimes too hot to touch at first but always delicious.

Nuestra conexión con la comida es innegable, y naturalmente, gran parte de nuestra cultura gira en torno a ella. Hay tantas historias, recuerdos e incluso traumas relacionados con los ingredientes, sabores y olores de nuestra comida.
Este mes, el equipo Hola, Rita está feliz de cubrir un tema que nos emociona genuinamente: ¡La comida! Estaremos entrevistando a chefs dominicanxs, foodies y emprendedores, compartiremos nuestros restaurantes y recetas favoritas, e incluso escribiremos una o dos cartas de amor sobre los ingredientes y utensilios básicos de nuestra cultura y hasta identidad. Pero la comida también es compleja y política, ya sea que nos demos cuenta o no, así que también tocaremos temas como la seguridad alimentaria, la sostenibilidad y la falta de representación e inclusión en el mundo gastronómico.
Así que unetenos durante un mes de contenido que promete ser saladito, a veces demasiado caliente al tacto al principio, pero siempre delicioso.
