There is strength in being relentless when building for and by the community. But there is also strength in understanding when you have to take a step back.
After years of building Hola, Rita, and now Mixta, we have learned a lot. Many writers and collaborators have gifted us their time, words, and stories, and we have spent countless weekends and nights brainstorming and writing, all to build a platform that is representative, inclusive, and authentic. But the world we live in is changing, and so is the way we share our stories and build community.
It is for these reasons that we are pausing Mixta, while we figure out the best way forward. We have so many ideas, dreams, and hopes with this platform but, above all, we want to get it right.
Feel free to browse the many stories we have published over the years, relive the events you attended and find people that inspire you. Our Dominican community is creative, vibrant and so incredibly resilient. We can’t wait to see the beautiful projects and ideas that will come from this much-needed pause.

Hay mucho valor en ser implacable cuando se construye por y para la comunidad. Pero también hay mucho valor en comprender cuando tenemos que dar un paso atrás y reflexionar.
Después de años de darle forma a Hola, Rita, y ahora Mixta, hemos aprendido muchísimo. Muchxs escritorxs y colaboradorxs nos han regalado su tiempo, palabras e historias, y hemos pasado innumerables fines de semana y noches intercambiando ideas y escribiendo, todo para construir una plataforma que sea representativa, inclusiva y auténtica. Pero el mundo en el que vivimos está cambiando, y así también la forma en que compartimos nuestras historias y construimos una comunidad.
Es por estas razones que estamos pausando Mixta, mientras determinamos el mejor camino a seguir. Tenemos muchas ideas, sueños y esperanzas con esta plataforma pero, sobre todo, queremos hacerlo bien.
Siéntete libre de visitar las muchas historias que hemos publicado a lo largo de los años, revive los eventos a los que asististe y encuentra personas que te inspiren. Nuestra comunidad dominicana es creativa, vibrante e increíblemente resiliente. Estamos ansiosxs por ver los hermosos proyectos e ideas que surgirán de esta pausa tan necesaria.
