Tells us a little bit about yourself!
Oh hi there! As my blog name suggests, my name is Chelsea, and I'm a twenty-somethin' year old living in New York City. I'm what I like to call a born, not bred, New Yorker. You see, when I was just three months old my parents made the life choice to move back to the Dominican Republic to raise my sister and myself. I lived in Santiago, DR until the age of thirteen, when my parents decided to relocate to the US of A.
Some of my passions include traveling, styling and writing a little blog of my own, Chelsea as of Late.
Where do you think your love for fashion comes from?
Growing up I was always labeled as "different." Could be because of the way I dressed or the many different ways I refused to conform to the norm. I've always been a rule challenger and I believe this very much impacted my sense of fashion. I've always enjoyed experimenting with trends, cuts, colors, patterns and fabrics, always pushing boundaries as I defined my personal style.
What has been the biggest challenge when launching and growing your fashion blog, Chelsea as of Late?
Oh boy! I can seriously give you a timeline of challenges. Every stage of launching a business comes with its own set of struggles, and to me starting a blog is like diving into entrepreneurship head first.
When launching Chelsea as of Late, my biggest challenge was consistency. I simply couldn't get into the swing of things and my content suffered because of it. Now that I'm a full-time employee my biggest hurdle is time. There are just not enough hours in the day to check off my list of to-do's, for work and for the blog.
What would you like to see in the fashion blogging world?
With the rise of Snapchat and IG stories, I feel like we're finally starting to see more "behind the scenes" realness in the fashion blogging world, but we're not quite there yet. I'd love for the industry to continue making strides toward transparency and acceptance. The needle is moving but there's a lot more work to get done.
What is your advice for any Latinx trying to get into and make it in the fashion blogging industry?
My biggest advice for Latinx, or anyone in general, trying to get into the fashion blogging industry is to just start. Forget all the reasons why you think you're not ready and take the leap. All of the "technical" components can be learned on the fly. Trust me, Chelsea as of Late didn't always look this put together. All you need is your voice and drive. The rest will fall into place. I promise.
Where do you see yourself in the next 3 years?
Ahh. My least favorite question ever. Ha! See I'm more of a short, short-term planner. I like to map out the next six-to-eight months max. I've found that anytime I go beyond that life just chuckles and takes me for an unexpected loop. If I could hope for something in the next 3 years is for Chelsea as of Late to continue growing and impacting new people, whatever that might mean.
Favorite fashion piece?
A biker leather jacket and my Ray Ban aviator sunglasses. Cannot live without either.

Hola, que tal! Como mi blog sugiere, mi nombre es Chelsea y son una chica en sus veintes viviendo en Nueva York. Soy lo que me gusta llamar neoyorquina pero no del todo. Verás, solamente tenía tres meses cuando mis padres decidieron mudarse de nuevo a la República Dominicana para criarnos a mi y a mi hermana. Viví en Santiago hasta la edad de trece años para luego regresar a los Estados Unidos.
Algunas de mis pasiones incluyen viajar, el estilismo y escribir para mi blog, Chelsea as of Late.
¿De dónde crees que viene tu amor por la moda?
Desde bien pequeña me decían que era “diferente” a las demás. Muy probable que fuese debido a la manera que me vestía o las mil y una maneras en las que me proponía desafiar la norma. Siempre he sido una de romper las reglas y creo que esto impactó mucho mi estilo al vestir. Siempre me ha gustado experimentar con modas, cortes, colores, patrones y telas, desafiando mis propios límites mientras definía mi estilo personal.
¿Cuál ha sido la parte más difícil de lanzar y crecer tu blog de moda, Chelsea as of Late?
Ay caramba! Casi que puedo hacer una lista cronológica con todos los desafíos. Cada etapa en el proceso de lanzar un negocio viene con sus pruebas particulares, y para mí comenzar un blog es tirarse de clavado a ser unx emprendedorx.
Cuando lancé Chelsea as of Late el obstáculo más grande era ser consistente. Simplemente no podían mantener un ritmo constante y mi contenido sufrió mucho. Ahora que tengo un trabajo de tiempo completo el más grande de los obstáculos es tiempo. No hay suficientes horas al día para tachar mi lista de cosas de hacer tanto en mi trabajo como el blog.
¿Qué te gustaría ver más en el mundo de la moda y de los blogs?
Con el crecimiento en la popularidad de Snapchat o las ‘stories’ en Instagram finalmente estamos viendo más y más la parte real y honesta del mundo de los blogs de moda, pero todavía le falta. Me gustaría mucho ver a la industria continuar apoyando la transparencia y aceptación. Definitivamente el cambio está ocurriendo pero todavía hay mucho por hacer y cambiar.
¿Qué consejo le darías a unx Latinx que quisiera entrar y lanzarse en el mundo de los blogs de moda?
El consejo más importante que puedo darle a cualquier Latinx, o persona en general, para entrar en el mundo de los blogs de moda es que se lancen y simplemente comiencen. Olvídate de todas las razones por las que crees que no estás listx y arriésgate, todo lo “técnico” lo vas aprendiendo al andar. Créeme, Chelsea as of Late no se veía como ahora. Todo lo que necesitas es tu voz y tu entrega. Lo demás va cayendo en su lugar. Te lo prometo.
¿Dónde te ves en los próximos tres años?
Ay, esta es una de las preguntas que menos me gustan. Verás, me gustan más los planes a corto plazo. Me gusta planear lo próximos seis a ocho meses como máximo. He notado como cada vez que me trató de planear demasiado la vida da un millón de vueltas que cambian todo. Si puedo esperar algo que pase dentro de los próximos tres años es que Chelsea as of Late continúe creciendo e impactando a otras personas, cualquiera que sea la forma que eso tome.

Una chaqueta de cuero y mis lentes Ray Ban. No puedo vivir sin ninguno de ellos.
